PDA Utopia to open Service Center
PDA Utopia to open Service Call Center. It will also establish a software developing company for wireless devices.
In 1992, David Anderson came to Costa Rica to open Acer's call
center, and he saw the potential that this country has for investment on the
services sector.
Three years later, he went back to the U.S. with the idea of pushing new investments towards Costa Rica. And he did. In 2002 he will open his own call center in the Forum Office Park in Santa Ana the firm, PDA Utopia, originated in California.
"We will provide call center services to U.S. companies who also serve the Latin market living in that country", said Anderson.
PDA Utopia's initial investment in Costa Rica will be around $2.5 million, to open the call center and a software developing company for wireless devices.
The new company ratifies Costa Rica's position in services and call centers thanks to the local level of education, availability of bilingual human resource and different programs -such as INAs (National Institute of Learning) - for the improvement of the English language. Anabel Gonzalez, Director of Development Initiatives of the Costarrican Coalition (CINDE) and Alejandro Filloy, President of Afilloy & Asociados, both agreed.
Recently, Sykes Enterprises, Inc. announced the expansion of the call center.
Operations
"Costa Rica is perfect for this type of business due to the changes it is going through passing from an agricultural economy to one based on technology", said Anderson.
The call center would give jobs to 100 people initially and could expand to 300, while the software development part will hire 20.
"The customers of computers and telecom companies in the U.S. will call an 800 number which will route them here", said Anderson.
The software will allow wireless devices to have access to the company's information network using the Internet. The difference, according to Anderson, is that such connection will be possible with any type of technology the said company uses for its database.
For example, salespersons could use their cell phones or PDA to connect to their company's network and place orders for their customers at any place", said Anderson.
