To this agnostic, ALL religions have some element of the silly involved. Every single one. Some more than others...

That's why I tend to judge religions by the CONDUCT of its proponents. And I'd feel a hell of a lot safer governed by Mormons, or Catholics, or Buddhists, or Jews, or Zoroastrians, or even Animists than I would Muslims.

The Mormons I've met are probably the most decent, upstanding, respectful, straight-arrow, honorable people I've ever met. Which is why this whole "smear the Mormons" craze pisses me off no end -- largely because they're probably the worst-equipped group (short of Quakers and Amish) to fight back against it.

I agree with you that Saints are hard working respectful, honorable people. And I know better than you I would think, since I lived in Salt Lake City for a year, and actually attended services with them and had many friends among them. But that was 15 years ago, and I have learned a lot about LDS now, including REAMS of info on Joseph Smith (A con man, thief and plagiarist), and Brigham Young, who can only be described as a thief, liar, hypocrit and child molester, who scoped out his brides when they were as young as 10-13 years old. (At least he had the decency to wait until they were a bit older before he added them to his collection. Read the 19th Wife, there is a link to it above... The WHOLE document. No, I am one who usually respects the religions of others, even the Muslims which you Right Wing types delight in lumping all together in hate. But the more I have learned about LDS, the more I know it is a crock and an insult to Real Christianity. And Jay.... Like you have challenged me in the past. DONT take the easy way out, if you are going to defend this CULT, then at least watch the video.

What amazes me is what we as a people will accept in the name of religious freedom. There is no question the Mormon Church in all of it's iterations is fringe at best, but so are many forms of evangelical Christianity. That being said Jay Tea, then as an agnostic it should piss you off that one has a better chance of getting elected in this country as a member of a cult than as an agnostic.
