Jesus, David, get that stick out of your ass before it starts sprouting leaves.

For the record, I don't know a damned thing about Obama's religious/educational upbringing, and don't give a rat's ass about them. The whole POINT of my article was to show that CBS had put up a fluffy hit piece (and before this, I would have thought that an oxymoron) where Katie's staff had put words in her mouth designed to smear the guy -- probably at the direction of long-time Clinton associate and CBS news bigwig Rick Kaplan. My piece was intended to by SYMPATHETIC to Obama, not slamming.

I don't care for Obama. He strikes me as an "empty suit," with no real substance. He made a huge gaffe this week when he tried to tie in the Va Tech massacre with political issues. He's running on novelty and charisma alone.

But this whole "crypto-Muslim" bullshit is just that. The only thing that might -- MIGHT -- be germane is if some whackjobs around the world decide that he was a Muslim at one point, and now is an apostate and try to carry out the traditional death penalty on him. Alternately, if elected, it could cause a few issues with some nations. But I don't think that should have a goddamned thing to do with whether or not he should be elected.

David, I know you like the guy. But in the case you're citing, I was slamming those who cheap-shotted him. To go after me over that is, quite frankly, dumb -- and you've never struck me as dumb. Utterly wrong on most political issues, of course -- that goes without saying -- but never dumb, never unprincipled, never mindlessly partisan.

You misquoted the article, it is inherently dishonest to not make a correction. End of story, justify it however you like. But the error has been pointed out twice in your piece. And it is a serious error, one that changes the context of the piece.

No, David, it doesn't change a single whit about my piece: that Katie's staff tried a cheesy hit on Obama, and it was utter fluff and twaddle. Oh, and that Katie is a mindless, perky puppet who'll recite whatever is plastered on a TelePrompTer in front of her.

Besides, you're missing the big talking point when it comes to presidential wannabees. Did you hear Mitt Romney is a (gasp!) MORMON, and some of his ancestors might have been POLYGAMISTS?

Just try to keep that in mind, and forget that Harry Reid, Orrin Hatch, Evan Mecham, and the entire Udalls are also Mormons.

How can someone who has always made a big deal out of accuracy, misquote a piece and then refuse to acknowledge it. Mitt Romney and the Latter Day Saints thing is a yawner for me, I lived in Utah for six months, in Salt Lake City, got laid more than fired red bricks, mostly by repressed mormon girls looking for my "tail." Who cares...

Several reasons:

1) At this point, it would be giving more attention to a story that, quite frankly, doesn't need it.

2) I don't see the great significance of the error. Katie's puppetmasters say Obama prayed in mosques. Katie's puppetmasters are trying to salvage Hillary's campaign, and this is one way they think they can toss some mud on Obama.

3) I, quite frankly, don't care about the particulars of the story enough to give a full investigation. It was a cheap shot and a bullshit story. I called it that. To revisit it and go into the nuances and fine points of it would just give credibility to the notion that the whole thing is even worth discussing. It matters about as much as whether or not Paris Hilton got some bolt-on tits.

You are the ONLY person focused on the story, David, and you're locked in to a very, very trivial detail on it. No one else should give a rat's ass at this point. I know I don't.

That is about as clear a bit of bullshit as I have ever heard from you, EVER. You are a man who I have know to demand that people cite links to prove even accepted dogma. A man who I thought has always prided himself in being fair, if WRONG, and who has been a stickler for honesty. Your piece was not trivial, nor was the mistake. Call it a KC's bullhsith a hit piece if you want, I dont really care, but it was you who twisted the words of that piece to imply that Obama did not really show any interest in the Catholic church, while also stating that he went to Muslim schools. The implication of your WRONG piece is that Obama only went to catholic services to placate someone. Your LIE is a big one, and one that if it had been told about one of your favorites, you would be panting in outrage and demanding a retraction. To say anything different is hypocrisy.
