It's over...
And what we thought was nearly impossible has happened. The Democrats are now in control of the Senate as well, or so it would appear. Democrats wrested control of the Senate from Republicans Wednesday with an upset victory in Virginia, giving the party complete domination of Capitol Hill for the first time since 1994. It's been a LONG wait, and I make no apologies for being showing my disgust with the Republicans and their lapdogs in the last week. I have not blogged as much in the last six months or so. To be honest, I was burnt out. Tired of the constant hatred coming from the Right, and the smugness that went along with it. Today, I see the smugness gone, replaced by the sore loser, who is already predicting the end of American civilization under Democratic control. Note to HARD CORE RIGHT.... The scare tactics did not work during the election, they wont work now... I know it has to be hard to have all of your self esteem tied up in the Republican Party. But let me point out something to you... If you are an American, then get behind the Congress, support them, pray for them and let them know your expectations. If you are a Republican, and that is how you define yourself, then give up the sham, stop acting like you care about America, and just admit Party, Dogma and Conservatism is what matters to you, not America. And... Get over it, it appears that your philosophy and your party were discredited last night, and no amount of talk about Democrats being "out of touch," is going to change that simple fact. You have been marginalized, for at least the next two years. Whether it is longer, is up to you... Posted by David A at November 8, 2006 07:50 PM

"Get over it, it appears that your philosophy and your party were discredited last night" I don't understand this statement. My philosophy is "wrong" because some asshats in Congress - who claim to represent my views - were corrupt asses that weren't really following my philosophy at all? Blowing through money like a crackwhore. Ignoring homeland security on our borders. Not truly fighting a war in Iraq, but trying to placate to every ideology at once (didn't we learn something about that in Vietnam, Politicians should not be making war decisions)? I find this post gloating over a vote against a few in Congress who were all talk and a lot that were hypocritical. Dems seem to be thinking that this was a vote for them rather than against Republicans. To that I say poppycock! "Our philosophy" as you put it wasn't even being followed and many a Conservative has been just as fed up with these people in leadership positions as Liberals. Believe I'm a "sore loser" if you wish, but I don't see it that way. I've been railing on these "Conservatives" for over a year or two. I'm more pissed about the fact that a massive amnesty and absolute billions of dollars are now going to be given to illegal aliens. When you legalize 20 million people they become eligible for billions upon billions in services that are supposed to be for citizens and legal residents of this country. And for what? For breaking our laws by entering our country illegally, marching through our streets and using fraudulent documents to obtain work and other services? Now without the House standing in the way it seems sure to pass there, the Senate and be signed into law. And people were bitching about a few billion for a fence and interior enforcement. Wait until you see the bill for this decision... Posted by: Digger To be fair to you Digger, I agree with your self assessment. You have been one of those people who have expressed your disgust with the administration. I would not count you as part of the Lapdog set at all. But since I have mellowed a bit with the news that Democrats captured both houses of Congress, I will refrain from lumping on all the idiots who sang praises to this administration, no matter what they did. Posted by: David Scott Anderson However, it needs to be said, that the Republican philosophy as represented by the bozos you guys on the Right elected, WAS discredited as were they, and the results... The bums were thrown out on their ass, and I would have paid for the pleasure of seeing that fucking smirk wiped off of Melhmans face last night. Posted by: David Scott Anderson Ah, but me? I'm one of the idiots. I'm part of the crybaby crowd because I make predictions. I'm a sell-out because I believe that the policy ideas of what I consider the true conservative wing of the party are better for my country, even if there are some fuckwads in the party who do stupid shit- whether intended or out of sheer ignorance of what implications of what some statements or images might have to those who are just dying to yell "racist" and "sell-out" every chance they get. Funny- somehow the Kennedys, Kings and Gores survived supporting the same party that housed most of the KKK back in the day. Didn't seem to lose them any respect from our esteemed host. Hell- the Gores were actually segregationists at the time- but somehow were changed from within. But- you know, us black republicans- there's no chance that can believe that the principles are right even when some of the people that we're stuck with can be so wrong. We would never get a pass from anybody if people on our side were putting people in blackface (not that David gave them a pass, but please get the point.) It's not considered racist to say that we just don't think for ourselves- that we're just loyal to the slavemaster or have Stockholm syndrome (because blacks on the right- they just can't think for themselves,) but it is racist to say that black people are blindly following Democrats in the well meaning but failed policies to "help" us poor struggling Negroes who can't help ourselves. It's racist for Republicans to even try to make inroads in the Black community or have black candidates (we're just being "cynical",) but it's not racist for white politician to always start showing up in black churches about 30 days before elections making promises and invoking the Republican boogieman. I can have the exact same opinion and philosphy about this election as Digger (which I do) as far as to why we lost what the current problems of the party are, but because I'm a black man I'm a sell-out. And you know why I laugh about the crybaby remark from earlier David? I guess I'm a lapdog for being against the Bush immigration plan, Harriet Meiers, idiots with earmarks, and only only using the veto pen one time in the first six years. (There should have and could have been several more based on principle and the fact that a lot of shit was slipped through on bills that should have been rewritten.) Look at the difference between the right reaction to the loss vs. the left in the last three elections. You will note that most of the people on the right of the blogosphere are talking about very similar issues as Digger. In general, what I've read has been what we need to do to fix ourselves and our own party and bring it back to the fiscal policies that got us elected in 1994 and worked so well for this country regardless of who co-opted the ideas and got credit for it. When we stuck to priciples, it worked. Republicans are talking about what Republicans and conservatives did to lose elections and what they can do to win elections in the future. Democrats and the left are still crying and blaming anybody but themselves for losing the last three elections. Waaaa- they stole the election. Waaa- they don't play fair. Waaaa- if we win, it's o.k. but if we lose, Republicans cheated. Waaaa- diebold. Waaaa- intimidation. Waaaa- election fraud (even if more Democrats were indicted and convicted of actual fraud, intimidation, and violations.) For us, acknowledging that the media is no great friend to us is not crying. Our main focus isn't on what we think others did to us. We realize that we win in spite of what they do when our house is clean, we stay with principle, and we don't start getting too comfortable. We made the same mistakes as Democrats did before 1994 (comfort and spoils, rather than principle) and need to learn from our mistakes. We win when our ideas are followed up with action on those ideas in a clearly principled way. We got too comfortable and lost our way. We show our disappointment but now its back to work. That's the difference. Posted by: Marty at November 9, 2006 11:04 AM Hmmm, you are right about the reaction of the Left, including me over the alleged theft. I intend to write a post on that shortly. Posted by: David Scott Anderson Ah- you assume. I definitely think the GOP needs to run some shit past me before they put it out- although I probably wouldn't have thought twice about the Ford ad until the liberal blogs told me that it was racist. Truthfully, my first thought was about the irony of Harold shooting a political ad inside a church- which I thought it countered pretty well, until the possible implication was pointed out to me. But hey- you're right. I don't always think of the worst like you want me to. Even if it was intended the way you think, it probably got more sisters to stay home in Tennessee than got white people to vote for Corker. Any white person who in this day and age would respond to what you believe the message was probably wouldn't have voted for Ford anyway (or a Michael Steele for that matter.) Although I still think the process on that one probably went more like- "Hey, this is kinda funny," "They said WHAT?" "Oh shit!" "They aren't serious..." "Damn, take it down". But don't get all self righteous if I don't If I think something is fucked up, I say so. Like my letter I sent to the NYGOP after I first saw it on your site (you know- after you called me out on it even though I hadn't seen it before.) That is either racist or sheer stupidity or both. And I told them so. Just haven't written a post about it yet. (I don't write much anyway. This is even taking too much of my time.) Oh- and as for the Dems, fraud, dirty tricks, indictments, and convictions? Yeah- it's pretty bad. Not that I think either house is clean, but please. You have to be blind in one eye to only consider that shit from our side. I'll have to help you out with that later. Posted by: Marty at November 10, 2006 01:47 PM Post a comment
