Haggard's denial collapsing... Wizbang continues to ignore!
Hehe... Sorry Kevin, had to take a shot... I mean this is the biggest story on the internet today, besides conservatives trying to resurrect the ghost of non-existent WMD's while ignoring why the Bush administration published nuclear bomb manuals on the "internets," and your blog focuses on what? Inspiring stories of Christian Candidates who pray for their opponents. "The leader of 30 million evangelicals and vocal opponent of gay equality ... is gay, and the psychosis of the closet appears to have led him into a dangerous and self-destructive pattern of behavior with a male escort." And he is also more than likely a drug head, and certainly a liar. The whole thing sort of symbolizes the hypocrisy I have been pointing out for years. * Conservatives voting for politicians who are not only spending the country into a deeper and deeper hole, but who are contrary to Conservative philosophy, getting more and more into our personal lives. *Republicans demonizing Gays at almost every turn, and yet every day a new one is exposed as being gay. *Family values speeches from guys who spit on their wives and pay $500,000 to keep their Mistress from spilling the beans. *Republicans running committees that are supposed to protect children and then playing Yahoo hot chat with under aged teenaged boys. *Talking of bringing honor back to the white house and then selling the country to Halliburton. *Being a UNITER that employs Karl Rove and demonizes the other party. *Pandering the the Christian Right while turning Washington into Sodom and Gomorah, and allegedly allowing those same Christian organizations to be made fun of in the White House... Behind their back of course. *Changing the justification for the War in Iraq as often as some people change their underwear. Haggard's sins may or may not impact the election, but they have done something perhaps more powerful... They have exposed to the core... the hypocrisy behind these people. We man never look at the bloated arrogance and self righteousness of the holier than though Right, the same way. There are some on the Right who had the dignity to step back from the brink and say enough is enough... Others hang on desperately to their Glory Days... Unable to even consider the lie that their dream has become. They will fight to the last breath to hold on to the stinking corpse that was once their revolution. Regardless of how the election turns out on Tuesday, it will never be the same again... The nakedness of the Emperor, which many of us saw a long time ago... Is obvious to anyone who cares to look. That they chose not to, does not mean he ain't naked! It is easy to look at conservatives and consider some of them stupid, but they are not. They are true believers. But all of us woke up one day and realized that the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause did not exist. For them too, that day will come. And it will hurt... Others Blogging Story: Hullabaloo, Confederate Yankee, Alabama Liberation Front, Donklephant, Classical Values, Sadly, No!, Pam's House Blend, All Spin Zone, The Talent Show, The Heretik, Sensible Mom and Rolling Stone National … Update: What I find really funny is how some of the Conservatives are talking about how Haggard "looks gay," whatever the hell that is supposed to mean. Yeah, actually making fun of the guy. A guy who just lost his church, his rep, probably his wife, though not right away... Oh don't get me wrong. I dont feel sorry for the guy. He made his bed, screwed in it and then cranked up in it... So I feel no pity other than that I feel for his wife and children. But these are his comrades in arms. Guys who probably would have kissed up to this guy a week ago, and now they are all but calling him a fairy. Pretty demonstrative of the way these people operate. Sad really. Makes you kind of wonder why they didn't KNOW that this guy was gay? Posted by David A at November 3, 2006 05:52 PM

I never heard of this guy before, and really don't feel overly interested in learning anything more than I know about him now. I've taken my shots at organized religion in the past, loudly and proudly proclaimed my born-again Agnosticism, and don't feel any great compulsion to comment on this story. But on a purely intellectual level, I'd be interested in comparing what's-his-name's offenses against the Lord to The Reverend Jesse Jackson's history of bigotry, adultery, race-baiting, and extortion, and point out that The Reverend Jesse Jackson has not only not been defrocked, but is still a major player in Democratic politics, while this guy is pretty much toast. J. Posted by: Jay Tea at November 4, 2006 04:38 AM Hehe... I knew you were going to drag Jackson into this thing Jay, you are becoming predictable. As an agnostic,I would not expect you to understand sin in the same Biblical sense. But to answer your question, BOTH have sinned equally in the eyes of the Lord. Adultry is Adultry, and any sin is a sin. But the part on Jessie being a major player in the Democratic Party? Not for a long time my friend. His last speech as I recall at the convention was not even in prime time. Perhaps I am wrong about that, but I seem to recall the news about it. And Jessie has no where near the stature that this guy had. I know Jessie visited Clinton in the White House, but I dont recall him having weekly conference calls with ANY democratic President. Nor do I recall him ever being reffered to as the most powerful ANYTHING in America. Posted by: David Anderson at November 4, 2006 11:02 AM Sorry, David, I just don't give a rat's ass about this guy. I get a slight, vindictive thrill when a "religious leader" goes down in flames like this, but that's about it. I LOVED seeing Swaggart and Bakker get their comeuppances. Yeah, Jesse's out of favor, but where was his shame? When was he publicly disgraced and denounced and defrocked? He's just kind of fading away. I guess, in one sense, for a raging egomaniac like him, NOT going down in a blaze of glory is a bit of a downer, but I still wanted to see it. J. Posted by: Jay Tea Well, I can identify with both your comments. And to be honest, I had never heard of the guy either. But considering his stature in the Conservative Right, I am a bit surprised (well not really, since it is rare that the Righties will even run with a story that makes them look bad), that the big Righty Blogs are just kind of ignoring the story. Posted by: David Anderson at November 4, 2006 01:30 PM The trick would be to find a righty blog that quoted, cited, or even mentioned him before. I don't see any hypocrisy in not mentioning the guy's fall from grace if they hadn't mentioned his prior state of grace. I suspect that, to many on the right, he was a non-person before and is even less now. J. Posted by: Jay Tea Hmmmm. That one might hold some weight, if it were not for the fact that this is BIG news. Its not every day that a counselor to the President of the United States goes down in a shit soaked flame like this. Posted by: David Anderson at November 4, 2006 03:26 PM Post a comment
