Goodbye Tas, you will be missed!
Word is, that TAS, my favorite Progressive blogger is about to hang it up... Retire, and close his blog. While I understand his decision, I will miss him. And this is one of the reasons why: And for all the Republicans telling us that we're so out of touch that we have to pander further to their asses, I refuse. I refuse to be apart of your hatefest. I refuse to force my friends into second class citizenship just because you don't like the way they fuck. The way you seek to enforce your beliefs on those who aren't like you is not only disgusting, but it won't stop. I know for a fact that when you come for the gays, I'm next, because you just won't stop until everyone's converted to your liking. And I refuse to do your dirty work all in an effort to fuck myself over for your benefit. I refuse to pander to you motherfuckers just because you tell me to. So consider this a memo from the rest of us: Take your "morals" and shove them up your ass. One thing I always loved and respected about Tas is that he pulled no punches, not matter if it was the Left or Right. He said what he thought. He was right when he wrote that. I've known Taz online for close to three years. This is weird. Posted by: Michael Hussey at November 8, 2006 06:59 PM I wrote that right after the 2004 election, and I remember exactly how I felt at the time I published it... Defeated. I felt like I put up strong rhetoric, but Bush had just won and the left was in disarray... Back then, it was tough to be optimistic about defeating the Right. If there's one thing I've learned from then til now is that one must keep the faith. Don't stand down just because somebody tells you too.. Whether that somebody is a supporter of the neoconservative agenda or a "centrist" Democrat trying to shove a candidate like John Kerry down your throat. One of the biggest mistakes that I made during 2004 was choosing not to speak out about Kerry when I wanted to because I thought being a team player was more important. It's not, and never will be... Democrats will only hold up progressive values when progressives hold a torch to their ass. (What I also glean from my writing two years ago is a couple misspellings, repeated words, and an overuse of commas. Egads! Blogs should come equipped with proofreaders.) Anyways, thanks for the kind words and also giving me a shot to guestblog on ISOU, David. I really appreciate teh support you've given Loaded Mouth all these years.
