Wow... I mentioned her a bit over 2 years ago. (http://wizbangblog.com/2004/07/08/i-wanna-live-forever.php) It seemed her agent was trying to shave a few years off her age, but in doing so kinda made her underage when she did her topless scene in Fame.

She was (and, I guess, still is) a great singer. But that just isn't enough -- look at Madonna and Britney, two mediocre singers who've gone huge, while their big rivals at the outset, Cyndi Lauper and Christina Aguilera, had much better voices.

i know exactly what you mean. i've been saying the same thing for years man.

as a matter of fact, i consider myself one of yer bigggest fans, since her "electric company" days.

a friend and i produced a documentary based on her life and career entitled "pop princess: the story of irene cara" you can check it out on his fan site : www.irenecarashrine.com.

we sent a copy to her earlier this year and she told us it brought her to tears and what a joy it was that someone cared so much to consider her an inspiration.
