To be honest....
I find the whole KOS obsession to be hillarious. July 3-10, 2006 issue - Markos Moulitsas Zuniga is sitting on his back porch in Berkeley, Calif., listening to the hummingbirds and explaining his plans to seize control of the Democratic Party. It is one week after YearlyKos, the Las Vegas conference of progressives that Moulitsas sponsored and promoted heavily on his popular liberal blog, DailyKos.com. Every major media outlet in the country had attended the conference, detailing the spectacle of Democratic bigwigs (including the party's Senate minority leader and four of its leading 2008 presidential aspirants) embracing Moulitsas as the guru of an activist movement they were eager to exploit. With the conference, Moulitsas says, his movement had finally proved its relevance to the party. "We're not sitting around waiting for the so-called professionals to give us power in the party," he tells NEWSWEEK. "We're taking it for ourselves." I mean... First of all, these people are just discovering the KOS phenomenon? Markos is a visionary. He "got it," before most of us did. He understood the power of New Media, and of forming alliances and collective action. Bravo for him! But this incredible obsession with Daily KOS and the idea that it controls the Leftsphere is ridiculous. I rarely even read KOS, much less take my marching orders from Marcos. I decided a long time ago that ISOU would be about my voice, my opinion, and that I would not be influenced by being part of a collective. I might make more blogad money and even have more readership, if I towed the party line, but honestly, it's just not worth it to me. KOS represents a very enthusiastic, but I still believe minority wing, of the party and Progressive Political Thought. Their fund raising and PR capabilities are a powerful influence, but I dont believe KOS represents mainstream Progressive thought any more than Malkin represents Conservative thought. I wish Markos well because I think he has successfully pushed Progressive blogging into the limelight, but if he sent any orders my way, they must not have made it past my spam filters. Hehe...

The democrats seem to try to hang on the smallest ray of hope and make it into something more than it actually is, so naturally the Kos phenomenon surly gets them going, yet the Democrats still always seem to be in a tail spin despite the problems that the Republicans are having. The democrats need to be brash, looking for strong leadership in the world of the internet is wrong; they need to look for within the ranks of the Senate or House. Posted by: Ole Blue at June 25, 2006 04:01 PM I have read that blog maybe twice in two/three years. It was okay, but it isn't even in my top 50 blogs to check up on. Posted by: Angel I just find it funny that some seem to think we all march in Lockstep. Maybe it is because so many conservative blogs seem to do so. I could care less what Markos' opinion is. More power to him for helping to get a grassroots thing going, God only knows I have tried to get people to work together, and if the KOSiites asked my opinion, I would give it, but they dont seem to be interested in what the Costa Rica wing of the Progressive Movement thinks, so I just do my own thing, promote technology, hunt Mugu's and enjoy the company of Costa Rican Models...
