This whole issue is getting a lot of traction in the Left Blogsphere.

A couple of points:

1. I am not a Dean fan, don't even like the man.
2. I have no idea why he fired his gay outreach coordinator. If he did as payback for something the guys lover said, shame on him.

But this:

"Howard Dean owes all an explanation, unless he wants to see all hell break loose between now and the election."

is a bit of a stretch...

As documented on this blog, I support gay rights. As a Christian, I don't agree with the lifestyle, but believe that what two (or more) adults do in private is their business. I also believe that two people who care enough to make a lifetime commitment, should be able to, as long as they dont impose on someone else's right to believe what they want. (ie. I dont think any church should be compelled to marry a gay couple). I believe that two people in a long term commited and LEGAL relationship should have access to spousal benefits. Having said all that, Gay rights are not at the top of my political agenda. And while I am sure that most progressives support gay rights, A pro-gay rights position is not one that wins elections. So I dont know what John is talking about. And other than being an embarrassment to Dean if proven true, I dont see a Gay Backlash against him, "breaking hell lose." The Log Cabin Republicans have been repeatedly humiliated by their GOP Masters, and the GOP seems to win elections without them, or worse, with them...

So Dean may have shown his ass, and probably deserves a rash of emails and letters from Gay Dems, and others who support gay rights, but damaging the partyies' chances to win in November over this, would be about as stupid as joining the Log Cabin Republicans..
