Another arrogant Cheney
Making money out of being gay. I am not at all impressed. If she actually stood for anything (except being Big Dick's daughter), I'd suggest that it might be worth checking out her book. But, she doesn't, and the book is there just to make the rich kid richer. Don't waste your time or money. She had a chance to actually stand for Gay rights and at the very least be accepted by the gay community. But all she has done is put herself in a position where she will be shunned by everyone. Bout sums up my feelings on the matter. My hope is that she sells about 10 books, and then they rush it to paperback and the discount bin. Apparently someone forgot to send her the memo that gays are not allowed to be Republicans... the Democrats own their prissy little asses, and THEY BETTER NOT FORGET IT!!!! Just go ahead and say it, David... "goddamned uppity dyke." You'll feel better if you just let it out. J. Posted by: Jay Tea at May 22, 2006 01:21 AM Nope, wont say that. Cause I dont feel that way. I just feel she is a hypocrit. Posted by: David Scott Anderson Really? In what way? Because she chose to NOT make a political stand against her family? For choosing loyalty to her father over loyalty to a political cause? From what I've heard, the Cheneys have been pretty much ideal parents when she came out. They reaffirmed their love and acceptance for her, they wished her happiness, have even gone to great lengths to make her partner welcome and feel like a member of their family. At the same time, he has not compromised his life-long principles and not suddenly changed his position on gay marriage simply because it would now benefit a member of his family. The Left is bent out of shape because they see a lost opportunity -- to hurt Cheney politically and personally by using his daughter against him. She says she respectfully disagrees with him on some points, but not to the point where she will publicly denounce him. She loves him and her mother, has a great relationship with them, and wants that to continue. They have apparently agreed to disagree. So what the fuck is the problem with that? Where is it written that she HAS to choose politics over family? That merely saying that she disagrees with him isn't enough, that she needs to publicly denounce him and lead a campaign against him? It's cases like this that give me a little insight into the Right's argument that the Left is out to destroy traditional family values. Here they are doing all they can to destroy what appears to be a very healthy relationship between a father and daughter merely to sate their political goals -- and it isn't very clear that it would do much to achieve them, merely cause pain to one of those they consider their adversary. It's beyond cruel and manipulative, but just plain stupid. And I seem to recall that John Edwards was the first to try to make her lesbianism into a campaign issue. J. Posted by: Jay Tea at May 22, 2006 05:33 AM Good points Jay, and I am in agreement with you on some of them. But having watched the video with Letterman, I am dissapointed that she has (apparently, though one never knows what went on behind closed doors), not used her influence to lobby her father more on the issue. And I also did not like the way she avoided the questions. Posted by: David Scott Anderson Post a comment
