Interesting
This is an interesting analysis by Dean on Combat Death Statistics, as usual, it trys to paint a possitive picture of the situation in Iraq. Deaths of military personnel have indeed declined. What it does not address is the uptick in deaths among the civilian population. Posted by David A at April 3, 2006 01:15 PM

What I find most interesting is that as the evidence grows overwhelming that the fascist "insurgency" is increasingly too weak and cowardly to attack military targets with any effectiveness, either coalition forces or native Iraqi security forces, they now feel compelled to take out virtually all their hatred and murderous rage at unarmed civilians, including women and children. Which, as Strategypage notes so well here, is still more evidence that the fascist insurgency--which was always pathetically weak compared to many other insurgencies we've fought successfully--is growing weaker and more desperate by the weak. Historically it takes about 10 years on average to put down an insurgency--and contrary to what you've been told, the U.S. has won the vast majority of insurgencies it's fought. The exceptions are most notable for how rare they are. This one continues to wane faster than average, and no surprise: this time we made sure to give the people a voice in their own government rather than trying to act as occupiers or by setting up a puppet government. Nevertheless I cheerfully look forward to another year of hearing that the civilian deaths in Iraq means we're failing, since practically anything that happens over there is proof of failure in some people's eyes. Posted by: Dean Esmay ...by the week I meant. I mean, this pathetic group of murderous thug "insurgents" peaked at their top killing capability almost two years ago. Every time they rally from a huge defeat they get weaker and weaker. That's what happens when you have no leadership and are hated by the vast majority of the people in your country--which the "insurgents" are. Posted by: Dean Esmay Post a comment
