Final Honor for a Great American
I tip my hat to the Republican dominated Senate for this classy move. Let's hope that the House passes the resolution quickly. WASHINGTON (AP) -- Black civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks would become the first woman to lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda under resolutions considered Thursday by lawmakers. If I had fought for civil rights, I know I wouldn't want my body to lie in a place which is a symbol of a state whose history up until today has one big denial of human rights all over the globe, and whose very existence is due to the stealing of land and the killing and enslaving of it's inhabitants. I certainly wouldn't want my remains to be among those of those responsible for crimes against humanity. Posted by: jez at October 28, 2005 11:14 AM Post a comment
