Sticky Post - Drop Cash for Hurricane Relief

Liberal Blogs for Hurricane Relief

"There's nothing wrong with America that can't be fixed by what's right with America."
Bill Clinton

Hurricane Katrina destroyed thousands of lives. Together, we're raising $1 million for the American Red Cross and prove that the liberal blogosphere can help our fellow citizens.

Near as I can tell, the organizers of this haven't come to an arrangement with PayPal to have processing fees waived (near the end, currently, of the comments on this announcement page, the organizer says he's "Working on that"), which means (at a rate of 1.9% plus 30 cents per transaction) PayPal stands to make around $20,000 from this fundraiser.

If you want to donate to the Red Cross (or any other charity), I'd suggest doing so directly and, if you want to, posting your contribution on the truth laid bear. No PayPal fees.

I posted about this at length on my site and in a comment on another blog advertising this fundraiser, so it probably looks like I've got a vendetta or something, or I hate liberals (I'm not one, and I'm kind of afraid of a backlash, honestly), but I really just think Liberal Blogs for Hurricane Relief is a bad idea (the inefficiency of the PayPal fees and the partisanship, too).

I thought PayPal only took a fee if the payment was made with a credit card? I know if you pay through your checking account that it isn't a problem.
