BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A suicide bomber blew up a vehicle Wednesday near a U.S. military convoy and large group of Iraqi children in Baghdad, killing 27 people, Iraqi police and hospital officials said.

Iraqi police said most of the dead were children. The attack also left 20 people wounded.

The U.S. military said at least seven children and a U.S. soldier died in the attack. Three U.S. soldiers were wounded.

The soldiers were handing out treats to the children when the bomb went off, police said.

UPDATE: You know, after looking at the CNN coverage of this attack, and thinking about my own children, I realize that the idea of this post is not cool. The idea was to point out that despite administration spin, the terror campaign in Iraq is far from under control.

Nevertheless, I can not make political points on the deaths of innocents. May God bless the children who died today, and condemn to hell, the murderers who killed them.

Make no mistake, the people who did this are sick, evil people, who hold no value for humananity and who are willing to resort to ANY outrage to make their point.

I hope that the Iraqi people will rise up, say enough is enough and help to rid their country of this scum.
