Round The Reader - Relaxation Edition
Well, I am home, well rested and looking for more business opportunities. The family just left for a weekend at the beach, so time to get caught up on my reading. Beck quotes an ex Gulag Prisoner who says we should not compare Gitmo with the Soviet Gulag system. Boyd is not posting much lately, but has an update about a Marine, (I think his son maybe), who is going to Iraq. The Commissar has a bit of Historical Satire. Say a Prayer for Angel... Jay Tea has some thoughts on Deep Throat, no not the movie you pervert! Crystal has a RT meet up with a fellow blogger. Shakespear's Sister has an awesome piece on the Bush Administration's selective use of Amnesty International Data - A must read... Tas has a piece on the cowardice of the Democratic Party in dealing with the issue of Iraq I think OW and I were brothers separated at birth of something. Hehe... Matt Drudge is an idiot, you read it here first... Well second anyway! I have to go visit Bill every now and then for a sanity check on the Right. Here is one Conservative who is not putting words in Kerry's mouth. Chad Evans and Rusty Shackleford continue to have some of the best war coverage from the right. I may dissagree with much of what both of them say when they editorialize, but they have dedicated a focus on the War and War on Terror that is admirable. This IDIOT, ought to be in JAIL! And what better place to End than Shabooty... Who has a link to a sexy pictorial of Angelina! Posted by David A at June 4, 2005 08:50 PM

Frankly, citing BillinDC, Chad Evans, etc. as 'sane voices on the right' is a little like claiming Pol Pot wasn't a bad dictator if you put him up against Hitler and Stalin. If Evans wishes to comment on Iraq and the War on an Adjective--he should march down to his local recruiter's office and sign up. Otherwise, he's just parroting GOP talking points. Likewise, Beck's credibility is badly undermined by his co-blogger's beleief that Amnesty International not only did nothing WRT Soviet gulags--but his charge AI approved of the gulags. Beck's refusal to disavow such outright lunacy renders his blog meaningless. Posted by: Jadegold at June 5, 2005 12:31 PM Jade, I think you need to take a deep breath and read what I said again. I never commented on Chad being a sane voice on the Right. I commented that he has a focus on reporting on the War that I respect, while not agreeing with his editorial position most of the time. Beck is a friend who I happen to respect. And Bill is likewise. Bill is one of the few people on the Right, including the Commissar and a few others, who does not hessitate to deviate from the "party line," when he dissagrees, as he did in the cited post. Posted by: David at June 5, 2005 12:47 PM Again, DA, Beck's co-blogger believes Amnesty International not only ignored Soviet gulags but actually approved of them. That's serious tinfoil hat territory. Tell us, DA; why is someone who would allow his blog to be used for such utter tripe worthy of respect? Bear in mind, this isn't a subjective issue like tax policy or the designated hitter rule. The fact is AI has done a tremendous amount of work in the old Soviet Union (and elsewhere); in many cases, this work was done at no small amount of personal risk. I personally had a professor at the Academy who spent nearly a decade in a Soviet gulag who credits his survival to AI; without AI, he claims, he might have wound up in a "car accident" or the victim of some "illness." Posted by: Jadegold at June 5, 2005 06:46 PM Well JG, I am not going to put myself in a position of defending what someone else chooses to run on thier blog. Like I said, Beck is a friend, who has always supported me, he was one of the first who encouraged me NOT to give up my Blog when the idiots I was hosting with lost my entire Blog. He has also stood by me when some on the right chose to attack me for my positions. On the Amnesty International Issue, I happen to hold the same position as you, but I do not as a matter of principal decide my friendships based on what co bloggers post on my friend's blogs. And if Beck wrote something I dissagreed with, I would comment on it on his blog, not lose my respect for him, just as he does here. Posted by: David at June 5, 2005 07:00 PM So, DA, it appears that you're saying since Beck has demonstrated some kindness (or two) to you in the past--nothing that would appear in his blog would upset you. I'd suggest that isn't necessarily the case. Posted by: Jadegold at June 5, 2005 07:36 PM LMAO! Jade are you tired of pissing off right wingers and looking to start an argument with a Lefty, if so, it aint gonna happen, not even with you putting words in my mouth, as you have done since your first comment on this post. Let me clear up this one for you... "And if Beck wrote something I dissagreed with, I would comment on it on his blog, not lose my respect for him, just as he does here." Posted by: David at June 5, 2005 07:43 PM Not looking for any argument, DA; I just believe the liberal side puts itself at a huge disadvantage when it allows rightwing lies to go unchallenged. You speak of 'respect' as if it were something that is traded like a dollar bill. I'd suggest 'respect' is something that's earned and maintained through constant care and attention. That 'respect' goes away--or should--when it's demonstrated that someone lies. Yes, we can disagree on subjective issues (as examples I mentioned tax policy and the DH rule; there are many others). However, when someone lies about history--a history which is undisputed (recall AWOL George's own administration approvingly cited AI's reports on Saddam's Iraq and the Taliban)--I'd say that 'respect' has evaporated. Posted by: Jadegold at June 5, 2005 07:57 PM It's like arguing with a monkey, David. Pointless. It doesn't matter what you say, it only hears what it wants and totally ignores everything else. It's like a one trick pony. It also spends way too much time arguing with Liberals when it claims to be one. You just have to be a Liberal that agrees with everything it says and that isn't happening for most of us. Posted by: Rogue at June 6, 2005 08:40 AM Rogue: Don't you have enough going on in your personal life to occupy your time or is your baseless and unwarranted attack some form of therapy? Personally, I could care less if you agree with me. After seeing your bigotry in the illegal immigrant thread--your claims to being a 'liberal' are laughable. Posted by: Jadegold at June 6, 2005 10:28 AM My personal life is just fine. Thank you so much for your faux concern. And, you have never seen me attack anyone. I was just helping David realize that his commentary was futile. You have to have a brain that can actually understand what is being said to you to have a conversation. You don't. You proved it when you called me a bigot. And, I am a liberal. I just ain't the Right Wing poster child for Liberalism, unlike yourself. Thankfully. Posted by: Rogue at June 6, 2005 06:51 PM Yeah. Angelina Jolie is the only woman I'll ever admit to being attracted to. In a platonic way, of course;-) Posted by: sadie at June 11, 2005 09:09 AM Post a comment
