La Shawn responds to her Critics over Koran Piece...
Every now and then I have to deal with a barrage of criticism over something I've written. During these times, my Ecosystem ranking increases, and traffic spikes. I find it slightly irritating yet fascinatingly fun that I can generate such blogospheric heat with a few strokes of the keyboard. Check Technorati and you'll find new blog posts complaining about the same old stuff. It comes in waves. You know, I am happy for La Shawn. She does an exceptional job of making lemonade from lemons. You were wrong on that post La Shawn, but I am not going to argue the point. One day we are all going to be judged by a higher power. One of us will be right... Indeed. Thanks for the link. Posted by: LB at June 8, 2005 05:47 PM She has a "cape" now? So does that mean she is Batgirl or Wonderwoman? Posted by: Qusan at June 8, 2005 07:55 PM And, you're right David! Ms. Barber's self-righteous, multiple card playing dismissals of her detractors till now, accurately reflect the cited quote above. She could wield her comment post zapper with abandon, knowing such missives came from mostly one partisan source. But recently, her 'my God is the only true God' drivel, and this non-PC attack on the Koran, are making her the Right bloggers equivalent of Tom DeLay. It's mostly born out of frustration having to continually defend this administration's failures. But, it also exposes the fact that the fawning tokenism paid her along with the lip service as long as she was GOP Party line, gave her a sense of infallibility. So, she disses the Catholics, abandons, but does not resign the party, and goes Islamofacists-freaking. Now, the sane, Moderate bloggers won't return her comment posts, she may have sparked a mini-Crusade inside the CEC, and I've not seen her lately on Connected. Posted by: that colored fella at June 9, 2005 09:39 PM I think you hit the nail on the head Bert. But I dont expect La Shawn to admit any of that. Posted by: David at June 9, 2005 09:44 PM While I don't care for La Shawn too much, especially after she faked a comment from me, I will say that attacking her by saying she is not "PC" is really lame. Being PC is tired and lame. Most people are so past the whole "PC" thing that it isn't even funny. And, as for the attack on her faith ... that is even lamer. Posted by: Rogue at June 9, 2005 10:15 PM Roque, To clarify, my meaning by '...this non-PC attack on the Koran', was to point out that like many on the Right, Ms. Barber has abandoned any pretense and any effort to separate the Islamofacists from the Democracy-loving Muslims. And, I'd appreciate you pointing out where I made an 'attack on her faith'. I just provided examples of how her intolerance towards other religions, and her denouncements of other faiths as inferior to her brand of Christianity has made her enemies. Posted by: that colored fella at June 10, 2005 05:00 AM TCF, calling the doctrine of her faith "drivel" is an attack on it. I am a Christian and God is the only God. That does not make me intolerant of other religions. Jews believe Christians have lost their mind to believe a poor boy from Galilee is the Messiah of the world, but I don't think they are being intolerant because they believe that. Muslims claim Allah is the same "God" that Jews and Christians worship, yet they claim both are infidels. If you must claim that Christianity is intolerant of other religions on the basis of it's doctrine then you must claim the same for Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and every other religion that exists. Posted by: Rogue at June 10, 2005 07:12 AM Rogue, It's the Messenger, I take issue with, not the message! If La Shawn had stated the shared absolution of all faiths (as you so eloquently did), and recognized that her strong belief in her God as the one true Messiah does not trump all other religions - she would not be catching hell right now! Again, I am not condemning anyone of faith. Her 'drivel', was using her beliefs to subjugate those that believe in other Gods. You're right, it's not intolerant to 'believe' as Mr. Barber. But, it is intolerant to advocate such ignorance to convince others towards a political objective. Posted by: that colored fella at June 12, 2005 10:28 PM Post a comment
